Magus G.Mack's July Challenge: A Month of Noticing

Happy July!

There is something about the beginning of a new month that feels different. It feels like a clean page.

A chance to begin again. Most of us start a new month by setting goals.

We decide to lose weight, save money, become more productive, exercise more, or finally tackle the project we’ve been putting off.

Those are all worthwhile goals.

But this month, I’d like to invite you into a different kind of challenge.

Not a fitness challenge.

Not a financial challenge.

Not even a productivity challenge.

An awareness challenge.

The Challenge

For the month of July…

pay attention.

That’s it.

Not because paying attention magically fixes your life.

But because paying attention is where every meaningful change begins.

Throughout the month, notice the moments when you catch yourself…

  • worrying about something that hasn’t happened yet
  • reacting before you’ve had time to think
  • comparing yourself to someone else
  • putting off something you know matters
  • telling yourself a story that may not even be true
  • assuming someone else’s intentions without really knowing
  • living on autopilot instead of making a conscious choice

Don’t judge yourself.

Don’t criticize yourself.

Just notice.

The Moment Everything Changed for Me

For years, I believed changing my life required one massive decision.

I thought there would be one defining moment where everything would suddenly become different.

Instead…

I’ve discovered that my life changed through hundreds of tiny moments.

Moments where I caught myself.

Moments where I noticed a familiar pattern.

Moments where I realized, “I’ve been here before.”

And then…

I had a choice.

I could repeat the pattern.

Or I could choose differently.

One conversation.

One reaction.

One thought.

One decision.

None of those moments seemed life-changing by themselves.

But together…

they changed the direction of my life.

Building Heaven

One of the central ideas behind Beyond Sin is that Heaven and Hell are not simply destinations we arrive at someday.

We build them.

Every day.

Every choice.

Every reaction.

Every thought we encourage or challenge.

When we become aware of destructive patterns and begin choosing differently, we slowly build a different kind of life.

Not overnight.

Not perfectly.

One brick at a time.

One conscious choice at a time.

Your Evening Question

At the end of each day this month, I’d like you to ask yourself one simple question:“What pattern did I notice today?”

Maybe you noticed fear trying to make your decisions for you.

Maybe pride kept you from admitting you were wrong.

Maybe envy whispered that someone else’s life was better than yours.

Maybe you found yourself overthinking a conversation that happened hours ago.

Maybe you realized you spent the entire day rushing instead of actually experiencing it.

Whatever you notice…

celebrate it.

That may sound strange.

Most of us think noticing our flaws means we’re failing.

I think the opposite is true.

You can’t change what you don’t see.

Awareness is progress.

The moment you recognize a pattern, you’ve already interrupted it.

You have stepped out of autopilot.

And that creates something incredibly valuable:

Choice.

My Challenge to You

If you’re willing, join me this month.

You don’t have to be perfect.

You don’t have to fix everything.

You don’t even have to change every pattern you notice.

Just become aware.

At the end of July, I think you’ll be surprised by how much you’ve learned about yourself.

And if you’d like to share your experience, I’d love to hear from you.

Write what you discover in your observations in a journal.

Continue your learning by joining the discussion on Facebook or take a more personal approach by writing what you discover in your journal.

Sometimes the smallest realization becomes the beginning of the biggest transformation.

Here’s to a month of seeing a little more clearly…

choosing a little more intentionally…

and building a little more Heaven, one day at a time.

Until next time,

— Magus G.Mack
